I Want A Nokia Music Phone

Many Nokia high-end smartphones and even mid-range phones have a built-in music player. This alone doesn´t turn the device into a music phone or something that can be compared to a portable music player like the iPod.

A cell phone needs dedicated music features and a large storage capacity before you can call it a music phone. Nokia music phones use the Nokia XpressMusic brand.

Nokia XpressMusic

Nokia XpressMusic is a dedicated brand for Nokia music phones. The idea of the XpressMusic brand is to make it easier to identify Nokia's portfolio of music-optimized devices. Each mobile device with Nokia XpressMusic shares the same key features. The first XpressMusic phones are Nokia 3250 and Nokia N91.

The XpressMusic cell phones must comply to a list of features defined by Nokia. XpressMusic features are:

  • Good audio sound quality
  • Dedicated key(s) for fast and easy access to the music collection
  • Play, talk and play - music pauses when a call comes in, resumes when the call has ended
  • Supports headphones for listening with standard 3.5mm jack
  • Extended battery time (min. of 10 hours for music)
  • Large storage for large number of songs
  • Create and edit playlists on the go
  • USB 2.0 support for fast transfer of your music
  • Wide support of audio formats (MP3, WMA, AAC and AAC+)
  • Easy access to OTA (over-the-air) downloads
