Nokia announced a new music player AND a bundled memory card FOR the Nokia 6630 smartphone. The Nokia 6630 Music Edition IS a special music version OF the bestselling 3G smartphone.

Nokia 6630 Music Edition ships later this MONTH, AND the Nokia 6630 Music Edition IS available FOR European, Middle Eastern AND African markets. Sorry US, but you got your Nokia 6682. Maybe a Nokia 6682 Music Edition FOR you guys OR you can buy the N91 music smartphone, which IS TO sport a 4 GB hard drive.

Nokia today also launched the Nokia Music Pack. The Music Pack includes the Nokia Audio Adapter, the Nokia 256 MB MMC Card, the Nokia USB MMC/SD reader AND Nokia Stereo Audio Cable. The Stereo Audio Cable IS compatible WITH the Nokia 3230, 6230, 6230i, 6630, 6680/6681/6682, 7710, 9300, 9500, N70, AND N90.

The 256Mb memory card included IS enough TO be practical, AND you can install up TO 1Gb OF memory INTO the phone. By our reckoning, that gives about 16 CDs worth OF MP3s WHEN recorded AT the highest quality (Nokia claim that you can fit 15 CDs worth ON the 256Mb card, but IN our VIEW this can ONLY be done by recording very low quality MP3s).

Note: Nokia claims that you can fit 15 CDs worth OF music ON the 256Mb card, but THEN you have TO recording very low quality MP3s. Maybe WITH the 1Gb memory one could record 10 CDs worth OF MP3s TO the phone (highest quality).

• 1 song IN good quality needs around 6MB IN MP3 format.


• 10 MP3 song = 60MB, 40 MP3 song = 240MB.


• ON average you have 17 songs ON a CD -> 256MB ~ 2.5 CD

Compared TO the Motorola ROKR, the Nokia 6630 Music Phone has a better camera, larger track capacity, 3G support AND it´s a Symbian. The Sony Ericsson W800i, has a better camera, but it lacks the Nokia's 3G AND smartphone capabilities.
