Nokia 3250 Hands on Review

After 2 weeks of intensive testing and everyday use Iīm ready top give some comments about the Nokia 3250. Iīm not going to write a long list of the 3250 Key Features. The technical specs can be found at the official Nokia 3250 web page or then look at my previous 3250 article. Hereīs what I think you should know about the phone.
Smartphone
The Nokia 3250 is a 3rd Edition Symbian smartphone. For those not familiar with smartphones one could say smartphones are phones with an OS (like windows on a PC). If you have a smartphone you can install many useful (or less useful) software on the phone. As the Nokia 3250 uses a news version of the Symbian OS you should note that no old Symbian software is compatible with the phone.
Although at the moment Nokia 3250 will be released the software assortment will stay terribly poor. It will take around 6 months for situation to improve.mobile-review.com
Nokia 3250 Usability

When it comes to usability and the form-factor the biggest difference to "normal" phones is the rotating blocks. Nokia even has a name for it, the "Twist". The idea of this twist or transformer function is quite the same as on the Nokia N90. Another phone closely related is the Nokia N91, a high-end music phone. When you "twist" the phone you can get it to normal mode, camera mode and music mode.
Quite many Nokia 3250 reviews point out that the phones navigation joystick is difficult to use. I say this is true, but you get used to it after a while. I think itīs also a matter of personal preference and what you are used to. Compared to my Nokia N70 the 3250 feels somewhat bulkier. Maybe thatīs the price you pay when you make give a phone a impression of firmness. Many body parts are made of metal.
3250 as a Music Player
What makes the 3250 a music phone? First of all the twist function that allows you to have dedicated music keys like play, stop and pause. Then the music software and the radio. The transfer of music from your PC to phone is also made easier. You can tranfer music to the phone with your Nokia PC Suite or the Windows Media Player 10.

The music player supports standard audio file formats such as MP3, WMA, M4A and AAC and is rated to store up to 750 songs on an optional 1GB microSD card. This is maybe not the whole truth, but something near 750 anyway. Maybe 750 songs if you listen to Ramones (They have short songs, but do they have that many songs?).
Nokia 3250 Camera
The phone has a 2 megapixel camera. Iīm not shure if the camera is the same as on the N70. The quality of the pictures below show some difference. On the whole picture quality is ok compared to other phones in the same price range.

The 3250 as a camera (camera mode)

The camera has no flash, but I donīt see that as a problem - the use of flash light usually makes pictures look bad. The camera has no lens cover.
I give full credit to Nokia though, their new S60 v3 'twister' gave me a number of pleasant surprises, many of which will perhaps be showcased to even greater effect in other upcoming devices such as the E70, E61 and N80.allaboutsymbian.com
I admit I am impressed by Nokia 3250's good construction, by the excellent elaboration of its body, by its pretty colors and high-class keypad. The phone is extremely fast in Java and offers all advantages a Symbian OS can provide - an endless phonebook, brilliant time organizing functions, work with messages and emails etc. Nokia 3250 has one of the best cameras among same-resolution phones too.gsmarena.com
We say: The 3250 is a ok music phone with a good camera. Pros are the Symbian OS and maybe the price. No big difference to the N70 is you do not consider the form-factor. I like the simple design of the N70, but I guess the 3250 "twist" function can be considered cool.
