Nokia 6061 launched by Cingular

Cingular just launched a new Nokia flip, the Nokia 6061. This IS a nice looking entry LEVEL phone selling FOR $39.99 WITH a 2-YEAR service contract.

If you just need a phone this IS one OF the rare examples FOUND nowadays. NO camera, MP3 player - just the basic feautures needed FOR making a call. This IS the SECOND Nokia flip FROM Cingular, the FIRST beeing the mid-range Nokia 6102.

The Nokia 6061 KEY features include 128 Ã— 160 pixel display WITH 65K colors, MP3 ringtones, AIM/ICQ/Yahoo Instant Messaging.

Other basic functions include:

Vibrating alert

Integrated handsfree speakerphone

Supports email protocols: IMAP4, POP3, SMTP

Predictive text INPUT

Phone book WITH up TO 500 entries

The 6061 suppports basic customization such AS wallpapers, screensavers, games AND ringtones IN MP3, MIDI, AND AMR formats. The phone supports MP3 ringones, but this doesn´t make it a music mobile. It has NO MP3 player AND you cannot play music ON it. The phone has a 3 MB internal memory FOR phone book entries, ringtones etc.

It fits INTO small jeans (3.35 x 1.73 x 0.94 inches) AND doesn´t weight much (3.28 Ounces). Entry LEVEL phones LIKE this one ARE seldom so called wolrd phones AND the 6061 makes NO EXCEPTION. It IS a GSM/GPRS 850/1900 MHz phone.

6061 battery life IS fairly good WITH talk TIME up TO 3.5 hours AND standby TIME up TO 16 days according TO Nokia. The phone has NO Bluetooth OR other energy consuming applications so I guess the battery life given by Nokia IS quite acccurate. The battery IS a standard Li-Ion 760 mAh battery.

We Say: If you just need a phone this IS an excellent choice. If you need SOME additional features AND would LIKE TO pay SOME extra dollars consider the Nokia 6102. WITH the 6102 you will GET one MORE band (Tri band phone GSM/GPRS 850/1900 MHz), IR (Infrared), USB WITH Pop-Port, FM stereo radio AND SOME additional memory FOR USER DATA.
